The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, near Southampton, is the national governing body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating. It represents dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing, inland cruising and personal watercraft.

Salary grade: 3
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: RYA WCP Facility, Portland, Dorset with the potential for international travel
Start date: April 2025

We are seeking a Workshop Supervisor and Boat Technician to join the RYA World Class Programme (WCP) team. This exciting role involves supporting ‘Medal Winning’ performance through the preparation and maintenance of a variety of Olympic sailing dinghies and boards and helping with the day to day running of the RYA World Class Programme workshop.
Your responsibilities as WCP Workshop Supervisor and Boat Technician will include:
1. Supporting the preparation, maintenance, and optimisation of equipment for Olympic sailing classes.
2. Assisting the Olympic Chief Technical Officer and Senior Boat Technician on technical projects.
3. Providing guidance on best practices to sailors and coaches using the Technical Unit.
4. Supervising and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations in the workshop.
5. Delivering training in boat preparation techniques to sailors and coaches.
Who we’re looking for:
1. A reliable and self-motivated individual with excellent attention to detail.
2. Skilled in maintaining and servicing sailing dinghies and/or boards.
3. IT literate (Microsoft Office).
4. A team player with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
5. Possessing a full driving license.
Desirable qualifications and experience:
1. Powerboat driving experience (minimum PBL2).
2. Experience working within a medal-winning environment in Olympic Sailing.
