Brook Street Recruitment is working on behalf of our client in Belfast to recruit a new full time and permanent Assistant Audit Manager to join their team.
Job Summary
The assistant audit manager plays a senior role in overseeing and directing the firm's audit engagements. They will ensure audit files are prepared for audit manager/audit partner review in accordance with the firm's audit methodology and meet all quality and compliance requirements. The assistant audit manager is expected to manage a portfolio of clients, including the effective and timely delivery of engagements in accordance with client requirements.
The assistant audit manager will also contribute to the firm's compliance with Audit Quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Overseeing and directing the budgeting, planning, coordination, and control of audit engagements, considering audit risk issues and accounting technical matters.
2. Review audit files prepared by the audit team ensuring:
1. Files meet statutory audit methodology compliance requirements.
2. Audit files are completed using the firm's audit software tool.
3. All audit working papers are completed to the required standard.
3. Assist staff in the effective delivery of engagements, ensuring statutory compliance requirements are met.
4. Lead the audit team onsite as required.
5. Report to the Audit Manager/Audit Partner on:
1. The progress of audit engagements.
2. Critical accounting and/or audit matters that require attention.
6. Provide on-the-job training and mentoring for audit staff.
7. Review financial statements including disclosures for compliance.
8. Prepare consolidated financial statements for review.
9. Liaise with clients on accounting and audit technical matters.
10. Prepare and deliver the Management Letter to clients.
11. Present audited accounts and reports to senior client management.
12. Assist in monitoring the effectiveness of audit services delivered.
13. Stay informed of emerging accounting and audit technical developments.
14. Prepare and negotiate proposals for clients.
15. Contribute to the firm's compliance with Audit Quality requirements.
Key Expectations
1. Thorough knowledge of primary accounting frameworks (FRS 102).
2. Thorough knowledge of UK and Irish International Standards of Auditing (ISAs).
