About the role:
We are currently seeking a Motor Vehicle Technician to join our Motor Vehicle department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Technician, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
* Overall Responsibilities: Support lecturers in workshops; Maintain workshop facilities and ensure Health and Safety; Ensure serviceability of tools and equipment.
* Main Duties: Develop systems for security and inventory; Organise service and repair of equipment; Maintain consumable stock levels; Prepare equipment and work areas; Ensure workshop safety and cleanliness.
* Statutory Duties: Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults; Promote equality and diversity; Follow health and safety requirements; Participate in training and development.
* Additional Responsibilities: Provide support and guidance to candidates; Deal with breaches of discipline; Manufacture teaching aids and templates; Monitor stock and equipment expenditure.
* Collaboration: Liaise with Programme Manager and Health and Safety Manager; Ensure site security; Undertake RISK and COSHH assessments; Promote College policies and procedures.
About you:
* Experience: Motor Vehicle experience in training or trade; Working effectively with diverse backgrounds.
* Qualifications: L2 Vehicle Maintenance & Repair; Maths & English (Min Grade 4); Willingness to achieve First Aid and fork lift licence.
* Knowledge: Safe working practices (hand tools, machines, COSHH); Wider Motor Vehicle Industry and current practices.
* Skills: Maintain stock inventories; Prepare, maintain, and repair equipment; Communicate effectively face to face, on the telephone, and in writing.
* Commitment: Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults; Promote equality and diversity; Continuous skills and knowledge update; Flexible approach to work and working times.
