Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor Location: Didcot (Hybrid Working Available) Position Type: Permanent or Temporary About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a team working on a dynamic residential projects in Didcot. You will be involved in the development of housing and apartment schemes, with a significant focus on procurement, tendering, cost control, and reporting. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial success and smooth running of the project, managing costs and ensuring value for money throughout all stages of development. Key Responsibilities: Procurement & Tendering: Lead and manage the procurement processes for contractors, suppliers, and services. Prepare and issue tender documents, evaluate bids, and assist with contractor selection. Cost Control & Management: Oversee and control the project budget, providing regular cost reports and forecasts. Ensure the project stays within financial constraints, identifying and addressing potential cost overruns early. Contract Administration: Manage and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions. Review and negotiate contract amendments or variations. Reporting & Financial Tracking: Provide detailed cost reports to senior management, highlighting risks, opportunities, and key financial metrics. Prepare accurate financial projections and monitor the financial health of the project. Value Engineering & Risk Management: Identify opportunities for value engineering, ensuring cost-effective solutions are implemented without compromising on quality. Proactively manage risks and develop mitigation strategies. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with internal teams, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and efficient project delivery. Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors and assist in developing their skills and knowledge.Requirements: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a focus on residential projects (housing and apartments). Strong experience in procurement, tendering, and cost control in a similar construction environment. Excellent understanding of construction contracts and regulations. Demonstrable experience in managing project budgets and delivering projects on time and within budget. Ability to provide accurate and detailed financial reports, forecasts, and risk assessments. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders at all levels. Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field (MRICS qualification preferred, but not essential). Strong IT skills, including proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., MS Excel, CostX, or similar tools). A proactive, solution-oriented approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Full UK driving license preferred.Benefits: Competitive salary, based on experience.
