Job Description: Job Description At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Software Quality Engineer for the Integrated Sensing and Protection (ISP) Line of Business based at our Basildon/Southampton site. The role will directly support several key programmes in the ISP domain, ensuring quality is driven in at the front end of design and maintained during the Product Lifecycle. Working across all sectors of ISP, providing an independent assurance to Business Sector Senior Management that projects be executed in accordance with defined process and that agreed customer software quality requirements are realised in line with planned customer expectations. To provide specialist Software Project Assurance support to Customers, Project Managers, the Supply Chain, and external Quality Assessment bodies, while ensuring delivery of agreed software quality requirements throughout the project lifecycle, meet quality, cost and delivery schedules. The Software Project Assurance Lead can undertake a range of specialist Software Quality tasks in the areas of Product Teams (IPT's) or Quality Function, assisting business delivery and performance within their allocated area. The role at this level can provide advice and guidance within existing systems and procedures. Role holders will manage their own work with limited supervision and resolve problems and queries, while managing others to achieve objectives. The holder may contribute to customer and vendor aspects, working within quality planning and participating in non-conformance, corrective action and continuous improvement as a specialist in these areas. What you will do • Identify the specific software risks, threats and opportunities across ISP. • Agree the software portion of Project Assurance Plans (PAP) defining project software assurance activities aligned to Risk, Opportunity and Improvement within the Programme and associated Projects. QA aspects of SDPs • Working in conjunction with the Procurement Lead in the creation of a specific Supplier Management Plan for software outsourcing activities to ensure; o Identification of key supplier risks in terms of supplier selection and ongoing contract execution management o Establish a plan of surveillance activities for key suppliers o Establish and maintain a set of performance KPIs • Support both internal and external audits of software development. Create, agree and deliver KPIs to be used to review and inform decision making • To ensure the provision of Assurance expertise and capability to the various projects and programmes What we are looking for • Excellent time management and organisation skills facilitating prioritisation and running multi tasks in parallel, against challenging time requirements. • Excellent communicator able to communicate effectively at all levels and with internal and external customers. • Detailed knowledge of specific software processes and detailed understanding of the business area. • Thorough, practical knowledge of a number of relevant processes and procedures e.g. Mil Std-2167A or -498, Def Stan 05-95, AQAP 150 or 2210, DO-178C. • Knowledge and experience of software tools e.g. Requirements management, Configuration Management, Test, Code Coverage and Static Analysis. • Confidence and ability to challenge/respond to challenges on Software Quality Assurance issues and deploy the Software PAE team accordingly. • Ability to offer solutions to arising software quality issues based on knowledge and experience. • Experience of working in a Quality Assurance / Project Assurance discipline within a design and manufacturing or similar environment preferably in the Defence, Aviation or Automotive Industry Experience of working with Agile and Waterfall development methodologies • Ability to travel both nationally and internationally if required.
