An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic physiotherapist to join the inpatient therapy team at George Eliot Hospital.
The successful candidate will join an exciting and ever-developing critical care and surgical therapy team covering:
* Adult critical care
* Surgical wards (elective & emergency)
* Respiratory physiotherapy support in the emergency department & maternity wards where required
* Weekend and overnight on call rota
* With potential to participate in critical care follow-up clinics

Main duties of the job
* Deliver high standard, evidence-based physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patients, to develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme, whilst working as part of an MDT.
* To make informed clinical decisions to support timely discharge planning, including referral to other services.
* Work as an autonomous practitioner and hold responsibility for own caseload, whilst working under the supervision of a band 7 physiotherapist.
* To support and supervise junior staff and physiotherapy students.
* A flexible approach to day-to-day tasks is essential to meet the demands of the service, especially as some of our services work over 7 days per week. Applicants will be expected to travel, when necessary, as part of overnight on-call working.

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
* Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience
* Broad Band 5 rotational experience
* Supervisory experience
* Previous experience in critical care
* Previous experience in surgery
* Contribution to clinical education of junior staff/students
* Previous senior experience in area
* Experience working within a Respiratory patient group
* Previous Acute NHS experience
Qualification and Professional Training
* Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy
* Good standard of general education including GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English grade C and above
* Registration with HCPC
* Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including recent attendance at relevant post-graduate courses
* CSP Membership
* Involvement /membership in Special Interest Group
Skills and Abilities
* Understanding of clinical governance & application in clinical specialty
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills including an ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and contentious information
* Able to prioritise and organise own workload
* Able to cope with a range of complex options, find solutions, analyse, compare and decide on appropriate course of action
* Able to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team
* IT skills - computer literate in email, Word & PowerPoint
* Able to perform a high level respiratory assessment
* Highly developed physical skills including dexterity, coordination & sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients
