We have an exciting new junior role which could be the ideal next step for someone who dreams of an editorial career in scientific publishing We are working with a world renowned provider of evidence-based content for healthcare professionals who are seeking an Editorial Assistant for a 12 months contract to support their Central Editorial Service Team. This role can be fully home-based within the UK, and it will give you exposure to all elements of an editorial office, including the opportunity to support the Head of Editorial with projects aimed at improving editorial systems and processes. The role: Reporting directly to the Head of Editorial, the Editorial Assistant will collaborate with a number of stakeholders Reporting to the Head of Editorial, the Editorial Assistant will work with a number of stakeholders including editors and copy-editors, and also peer reviewers and authors, to keep the publication process running smoothly and on time. Key responsibilities: Performing checks on submitted manuscripts pre and post publication Supporting peer review processes, liaising with peer reviewers and assisting them and authors using a centralised editorial management system Supporting the Head of Editorial with ad hoc process improvement projects Tracking peer review progress and updating the system Running reports for the editorial team Preparing documents for editorial meetings Inbox management About you: The successful candidate will be able to work independently and show solid organisation and communication skills. Previous knowledge of the publication process for scientific and medical articles, or admin experience supporting an editorial team would be an advantage.
