The role:
The Head of Commercial Solar will lead the Commercial Solar division, driving business growth through the development and sale of solar panel installations to B2B clients across the UK. This leadership role is responsible for executing the division's business strategy, overseeing sales and operations, managing key client relationships, generating a sales pipeline via a referral network and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solar solutions that meet customer needs and sustainability goals.
What you’ll bring:
* Implement business strategy for the Commercial Solar division that aligns with the company's overall objectives and growth targets.
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and market segments to expand the division's footprint within the UK commercial sector.
* Lead market research and analysis to understand industry trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to inform strategic decision-making.
* Oversee the development and execution of sales plans to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
* Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing sales team, setting clear goals and objectives, and providing ongoing coaching and development.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders to drive lead generation, sales growth and customer satisfaction.
* Ensure efficient and effective project management from initial consultation through to installation and maintenance, ensuring high-quality service delivery.- Collaborate with the operations team to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and ensure the successful completion of solar installation projects on time and within budget.
* Manage the division's P&L, budgeting, and financial planning activities, ensuring cost control and maximizing profitability.
* Lead, motivate, and develop a team of professionals across sales, design, project management, and customer service functions.
* Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the division.
* Provide ongoing performance management, training, and development opportunities to enhance team skills and capabilities.
* Execute with a matrix structure which leverages the Group’s B2C solar expertise across sales and project management functions
* Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and health and safety requirements.
* Identify and mitigate risks associated with commercial solar projects, including technical, financial, and operational risks.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and ensure the division's practices and processes remain compliant.
* Act as the primary point of contact for the Commercial Solar division with internal and external stakeholders.
* Represent the division at industry events, conferences, and forums, promoting the company's brand and expanding its professional network.
* Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and updates to senior management and the board on the division's performance and strategic direction.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Proven track record of overseeing a department that will be installing over £30m per annum
* Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, or Business Administration background
* 3+ years of business development experience in renewables, preferably solar
* Profound technical and commercial understanding of PV projects, preferably in both, ground mounted and roof-top segments
* Strong interpersonal skills/ability to maintain relations across our group's and client's interfaces
* Analytical skills, strong drive for results, and good negotiation skills
* Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
* Strong business ethics, flexible and open-minded team player
