Job Description
The Maintenance Inventory & Purchasing Specialist ensures efficient storeroom operations by managing and monitoring the availability of parts, tools, and materials necessary for production. This role is critical in minimizing production downtime and reducing costs while supporting the department in achieving its key performance indicators (KPIs). The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to interpret data and drive decisions. They will also demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* SAP Data Management: Enter, update, and manage inventory data in the SAP system, ensuring accuracy and data integrity in collaboration with the Plant Engineering team.
* Inventory Module Support: Assist Plant Engineering with the setup, use, and maintenance of the inventory module to streamline operations.
* Budget Assistance: Use historical data to support the department manager in developing future maintenance budgets.
* Documentation Maintenance: Maintain and organize documentation for facilities and equipment to ensure easy access and compliance.
* Spare Parts Management: Identify, source, and order spare parts for inventory, emergency repairs, and machine rebuilds.
* Receiving & Storage: Receive incoming parts, ensure accurate placement in storage locations, and record details in SAP.
* Technical Support: Assist technicians in locating and verifying parts in the SAP system.
* Inventory Control: Track inventory levels, flag issues, and notify the manager of any discrepancies or shortages.
* Returns Processing: Manage the return of spare parts to proper storage locations and ensure updates in SAP.
* Expedited Orders: Handle urgent requests and special orders for parts and materials during maintenance and production emergencies.
* Storeroom Accountability: Manage financial aspects of storeroom inventory, ensuring accurate cost tracking and reporting.
* Storeroom Maintenance: Oversee housekeeping of the storeroom and repair areas to ensure a safe and organized environment.
* Cycle Counts & Audits: Organize and perform regular inventory counts and audits to maintain stock accuracy.
* Inventory Management in SAP-MM: Maintain accurate inventory descriptions, locations, specifications, and updates in the SAP Material Management (SAP-MM) system.
* Obsolete Products: Monitor and report obsolete or end-of-life products to the planner/scheduler, reliability engineers, and maintenance system managers.
* Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED required.
* Associates or Bachelors degree preferred in business administration, supply chain management, or related field.
* Proven experience (2+ years) as an Inventory Specialist, Procurement Specialist, or similar role.
* Consideration will be given to candidates with 5+ years of tire manufacturing experience in lieu of proven experience.
* Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures.
* Familiarity with inventory management software (e.g., SAP) and procurement systems.
