Role Overview As a Carbon Mentor, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting hundreds of businesses accelerate their sustainability journey. You’ll be the first point of contact for businesses calling for free sustainability related support, most often sponsored by their banks. As an active listener, you’ll identify their key sustainability challenges and recommend relevant free and chargeable solutions. Your objective is to drive impact by funnelling a pipeline of hundreds of businesses towards energy saving programmes. Key Responsibilities Client Engagement & Management: Serve as the first point of contact, offering advice and sustainability support over a 30 min carbon mentor call. Aim to understand client’s needs, present relevant service offerings, and answer relevant sustainability related questions over these 30 min free carbon mentor calls Recommend appropriate next steps, such as audits, carbon reports, or specific technology projects, and coordinate with relevant colleagues for proposal development. Adhere to established processes and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for various partnership groups. These are provided in guides which you are welcome to influence. This also includes ensuring that you write up notes and actions after every call which takes 15min per 30min call. Maintain and foster long term relationships with clients along the decarbonisation journey, connecting strategy and project opportunities to compound the impact. Lead Generation & Management: Identify and funnel new commercial opportunities with the support from relevant business unit leads/experts from: Renewables, Demand Reduction, Electric Vehicles (EV), Water Reductions, and Consultancy. Initiate outbound calls to prospective customers to explore new opportunities. Maintain consistent and timely follow-ups post-mentor calls. Regularly check in with clients progressing through the sales funnel. Account Management - Working with partnership clients to make any partnership a success through events, webinars, training courses etc as well as tracking key KPIs. Candidate Profile: Experience, Skills & Qualifications Required: Minimum of Associate membership with the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) or willingness to attain this qualification, which takes 2 weeks to complete. Carbon literate – understand climate impacts and relevant ways companies can decarbonise. Familiar with key terminology. Authentic desire to make an impact and support businesses decarbonise People skills – comfortable conducting video calls and building professional relationships with potential clients. Excellent listening skills. Time management and good organisational skills required for scheduling calls and reporting KPIs. Desirable: Bachelor’s degree within Sustainability related field or minimum 3 years practical experience in sustainability related field/role Knowledge or interest in keeping abreast with corporate sustainability evolving requirements, best-practices and technical solutions Proficiency with CRM, HubSpot (training available if needed).
