Our Specialist Mental Health Team in Watford is looking for a band 6 Occupational Therapist.
This OT post is so varied and no two days are the same - from home assessments, group work, MDTs, community integration, service development, training sessions.
This is a great opportunity for a band 6 or experienced band 5 Occupational Therapist, to develop their career working in an adult community mental health team.
Main duties of the job
As the Occupational therapist you would be required to:
1. Build a working relationship with service users to ensure it is client centred.
2. Enable service users to improve their occupations and function.
3. Provide Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions for a specified service user group.
4. Carry a caseload as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
5. Develop the Occupational Therapy service provision within the setting.

Job description
Job responsibilities
1. Manage a caseload of service users with OT needs.
2. Provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal.
3. Be involved in the planning, development and evaluation of OT services in your area.
4. Regularly supervise OT students on practice placement, following attendance at an approved Fieldwork Educators course.
5. Apply in depth knowledge of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and other standardised assessment approaches relevant to the clinical setting.
6. Run OT groups with service users e.g., Lifestyle Matters, Memory Interventions.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING
Essential
* BSc/MSc/PG Dip Occupational Therapy
* HCPC registration
* Proficient use of Microsoft Office and associated packages
* Completion of preceptorship and/or evidence of having met the full KSF Gateway for Band 5 OTs. Evidence of relevant post grad training.
Desirable
* Membership of RCOT, including specialist section
* First line management training
* Solution Focused Brief Therapy training
* Cognitive Behavioural Therapy training
* Practice Placement qualification/APPLE accreditation AMPS/ESI/SI training
* Broad base of clinical experience
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Essential
* Post registration experience in relevant clinical setting
* Applied experience of providing both individual and group work interventions.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of using the Model of Human Occupation assessment tools, or others appropriate to area.
* Experience of other specialist Occupational Therapy assessment tools, e.g., AMPS, Pool Activity Levels
* Documented evidence of continuing professional development
* Experience in providing advice, support and clinical supervision to junior staff and/or students
* Applied knowledge of Recovery principles and how these relate to OT
Desirable
* Experience of working with people with mental health problems and/or learning disability in a variety of health and social care settings
* Previous experience of having worked at Band 6 level
* Experience in research or audit
