Housing Retrofit Manager – WMF1540e
INTERNAL APPLICATIONS ONLY
Westmorland and Furness Council
Salary: £45,718 - £46,731
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Voreda House, Penrith
Contract: Fixed term – Until March 2028
About this opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to manage our housing retrofit programme through the Government’s new Warm Homes funding, providing professional and technical expertise, while ensuring our legal obligations in relation to the programme and service to our customers across Cumbria are met.
This is a challenging role, managing a team of housing retrofit professionals and delivery agents. You will identify new opportunities to enhance the service through partnership and close collaborative work, including across the Thriving Communities directorate, exploring new opportunities and building a positive contribution to housing and health through the wider public health agenda.
We are seeking a dynamic manager to join our Retrofit team as part of the Home Improvement Agency, which is part of a wider Housing Team in Thriving Communities. The post is full time, working 37 hours per week.
You should be highly knowledgeable with a strong background in previous retrofit programmes (e.g., LAD, SHDF, HUG) and appreciate the complexities and interdependencies across disciplines. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills are essential to establish and maintain an effective team and develop partnerships.
You will lead and develop projects, influencing and negotiating opportunities for funding and service development while being highly organized to ensure compliance with Government policy. Ideally, you will have experience managing works contracts.
You should be a team player but also capable of organizing your own workload and committed to providing a high standard of customer service. Good written and oral communication skills and competency in IT are required. You must have the ability to travel efficiently around the borough to conduct visits and attend meetings; a full UK driving licence is therefore essential, and access to a car would be an advantage.
You will be part of a flexible and responsive Housing Team where we work together to get the job done.
Internal applicants may only apply.
Please note the Retrofit Team is based in Voreda House, Penrith.
