Principal Civil Engineer
Location: Rickmansworth
Contract: Permanent
Our client is looking to strengthen their Engineering team with a Principal Civil Engineer to support their growing portfolio of water and wastewater schemes, with a programme of work valued at around £400M. Based in the region, you will report directly to the Regional Discipline Lead (Civil).

Key Responsibilities:
1. Design & Costing: Produce cost-effective design layouts that meet specification requirements and can be effectively constructed and commissioned. Ensure all associated costs (design time, materials, erection, etc.) are considered in the design process.
2. Collaboration: Coordinate designs with other disciplines, both internal and external, ensuring the smooth integration of design processes throughout the contract.
3. Standards & Procedures: Maintain and develop standard practices, efficient procedures, and processes to ensure the continued success of the department.
4. Customer Satisfaction & Team Development: Foster a customer-first culture and assist in the supervision and development of staff. Ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
5. Sustainability & Safety: Ensure designs account for environmental factors and comply with all relevant health and safety regulations.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
1. Engineering Expertise: Demonstrable experience and knowledge of engineering principles, including structures, materials, geotechnics, hydraulics, and environmental engineering.
2. Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of industry standards (BS, CESWI, WIMES), relevant legislation (Water Industry Act 1991, Water Quality Regulations 2016), and roles/responsibilities under CDM 2015.
3. Water Treatment Expertise: Experience in the design of water and sewage treatment plants, including management of relevant discipline aspects.
4. Professional Qualifications: Chartered membership of a professional institution, along with a relevant engineering degree.
5. Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to manage staff, rationalize designs, and present technical proposals clearly and confidently.
6. Technical Skills: Computer literacy, with the ability to assimilate and analyze large amounts of data.
