Hourly Rate: £25 per hour (dependent on qualifications and experience)
We are seeking dedicated and experienced 1:1 Tutors to support children in care, those with special educational needs, and excluded pupils across Reading and the surrounding areas.
We offer flexible, part-time tuition opportunities, available both during school hours and after school. Tutors will provide tailored support, primarily in core subjects such as Maths, English, and Science across all key stages.
Tutoring sessions may take place in a variety of settings, including:
- The student's home
- Online
- A care home
- Local libraries or community centres
Many students may have additional challenges, including behavioural or SEN difficulties, and are often working below expected academic levels for their age.
- Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition to help students achieve their academic goals.
- Adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning needs, focusing on making lessons enjoyable and impactful.
- Collaborate with relevant parties to ensure student progress and wellbeing.
- Provide encouragement and support to build student confidence and motivation.
Essential:
- A positive and adaptable approach, with a strong focus on student outcomes.
- Degree-level qualification in the subject area being tutored.
- Ability to motivate and engage students, making learning enjoyable and accessible.
Preferred:
- QTS or QTLS qualifications.
- Experience working with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or looked-after children (LAC).
- Part-time position: Monday to Friday, up to 25 hours per week per student.
- Flexible hours depending on the student's needs.
- Ongoing role with the potential for long-term work.
- Have the Right to Work in the UK.
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
- Provide two professional references covering the last two years.
