Bookmark Education are working closely with a SEND specialist School in Hyde, Tameside who are looking to engage with candidates who have experience of supporting young people or adults with complex needs. The school is a specialist school for children aged 11-19 with a range of complex needs including Autism, SEMH, Profound and Multiple learning difficulties, Physical needs, Hearing Impaired.
The school is well resourced to support these pupils, ensuring that each child's needs are met and that they can access learning and can thrive both academically and socially. They want to ensure school is a safe place for pupils and that all their needs are met including not just academic but sensory and physical. As the needs for these pupils are complex; it is important that candidates who work here have a strong understanding of supporting these needs.
Successful candidates must:
* Have experience of supporting complex needs in young people or Adults - this may be from a care setting, charity based (respite offerings etc) or personal experience
* Training and experience with Moving & Handling and PEG feeding is an advantage but isn't essential
* Experience of working with challenging behaviours and how to de-escalate
* Be understanding that each pupil is different, and be committed to understanding their needs
* be experienced working with multiple agencies to support pupils - i.e Physiotherapists, medical teams, parents and carers, local authority SEND teams
The roles are:
* Monday to Friday 08:30 to 15:30 (hours are non negotiable) - Term time only
* Temporary initially, filling absences or recruitment gaps but these are long term ongoing with the opportunity to apply for permanent jobs if you impress
* Well supported by the school, becoming part of the support team in place
These are great opportunities for candidates from the care industry or Graduates with Health care related degrees who are looking to use their skills and experience in an Education setting.
