About the role
The Winter Maintenance Class 2 Driver is essential for keeping roadways safe and accessible during winter. This role involves operating snowploughs and other equipment to clear roads, highways, and public areas of snow and ice, ensuring safe transportation for the public. You'll work primarily outdoors in various weather conditions, with call out hours based on weather demands.
Key Info
Valid HGV Class 2 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
Certification in Snow and Ice Control Operations is advantageous.
Winter Maintenance Certification desirable but training will be given
Experience in Operating Heavy Machinery or Snow Removal Equipment.
Familiarity with Local Geography and Road SystemsKey Responsibilities
Operate Class 2 vehicles, including snowplows, salt spreaders, and other snow removal equipment.
Clear roads, highways, and public areas of snow and ice in a timely and efficient manner.
Apply de-icing materials such as salt and sand to road surfaces to prevent ice formation.
Respond to emergency calls for snow and ice removal during adverse weather conditions, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure efficient and effective snow removal operations.
