To undertake highly specialist urological nurse practitioner training.
The post-holder will have responsibility and accountability for supporting a caseload of urological patients and acting as the patient's advocate.
To be trained to assess and treat where appropriate patients with complex urological needs.
When trained and assessed as competent to work autonomously with the support and guidance of the senior urological nurse specialists and the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be trained to manage their own case load of urology patients, dealing with the delivery of often sensitive and complex issues. They will also be trained to discuss the various treatment options to seek consent for treatment providing empathy and reassurance.
They will be expected to liaise with the patients General Practitioner in relation to the plan of care and follow up treatment.
They will work in close partnership with the Band 8A Advanced Urology Nurse Practitioner, Band 7 CNS's, Urology Consultants, Associate Specialists, junior medical teams and the nursing teams in the delivery of an efficient and high-quality service.
The post holder will link with the Primary Care Trust and community Matrons, Community Nurses and the local Bladder and Bowel Service to ensure a continuity of care for patients in the most appropriate setting.

Essential
* Professional Body: NMC Level 1
* Degree in Nursing/Health related subject, undertaking a degree pathway, or willingness to undertake
* ENB 998/mentorship course (or equivalent)
* Evidence of commitment to continued professional development
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of the urological specialist nurse.
* Evidence of some experience in caring for patients with urological conditions.
* Understanding of procedures required for urological care
* Male and Female Catheterisation
Desirable
* Experience of the urology GIRFT programme.
* Ability to undertake assessment and review of patients, analysing results and determining treatment plans or follow up.
* Knowledge and Experience of some specialist urological procedures
* Understanding of the structure and organisation of the urology department
