North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT) is seeking an experienced and dedicatedPreterm Specialist Midwife to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to take a strategic lead in strengthening preterm birth and multiple pregnancy pathways while addressing inequalities and ensuring the highest standards of care for women at risk of preterm birth.
Job summary
As the Preterm Specialist Midwife, you will:
* Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to enhance preterm birth & multiple pregnancy pathways.
* Lead the provision of preterm birth clinics, offering expert advice across NWAFT in line with Element 5 of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle.
* Conduct audits & lead quality improvement (QI) projects to enhance service delivery.
* Communicate complex information effectively to women & their families, ensuring clarity and compassion.
* Act as a care navigator, ensuring timely access to the appropriate care pathway while addressing barriers to antenatal care.
* Collaborate with maternal medicine, fetal medicine & multiples specialist teams to support patient safety.
* Partner with the Maternity and Neonatal Voice Partnership (MNVP) and Local Maternity and Neonatal Systems (LMNS) to co-design equitable & supportive services for families.
We are seeking a midwife who:
* Has significant experience in antenatal & specialist midwifery care, particularly related to preterm birth & multiple pregnancies.
* Is passionate about addressing health inequalities & improving access to care for all women.
* Possesses strong leadership, communication & collaboration skills to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
* Demonstrates expertise in audit, research & quality improvement projects.
* Is committed to co-producing services with women, families & stakeholders.

Education and Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Midwife
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Current professional portfolio demonstrating ongoing professional development and further education
* Registered mentor
* Willingness to attend courses and keep abreast of developments in the service
Desirable
* Leadership knowledge or study
Experience
Essential
* Minimum of 3 years midwifery experience
* Ability to demonstrate an expert working knowledge of safeguarding and midwifery in all areas of the maternity service
* Safeguarding experience in clinical practice
* Evidence of relevant clinical update, including midwifery mandatory skills & drills and other regulatory mandatory training
* Have worked in a multi-agency approach
* Use of computerised information systems
* Experience/education in multiples pregnancy
Desirable
* Involvement with clinical audit and research
Knowledge
Essential
* Knowledge of NMC rules and standards
* Knowledge of current research / reports / guidelines relating to pre-term maternity care and their implication
* Aware of current research / reports / guidelines relating to safeguarding
* Demonstrate awareness of clinical governance
* Ability to demonstrate understanding of professional accountability and clinical governance
Desirable
* Involvement in participating in the production of evidence-based guidelines / policies
