We are looking to recruit a Test Lead on a 12 month contract based in Warrington.

Purpose of the Role
The Test Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products by leading the testing efforts throughout the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC). This role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, developing test strategies, designing test plans, executing test cases, and overseeing the entire testing process.
Responsibilities
4. Collaborate with project stakeholders to define comprehensive test strategies aligned with project goals and objectives.
5. Develop test plans outlining testing scope, approach, resources, and timelines.
6. Lead and mentor a team of testers, providing guidance, support, and training as needed. Foster a collaborative and high-performance testing environment.
7. Oversee the creation and execution of test cases, ensuring adequate coverage of functional and non-functional requirements. Review and approve test cases developed by team members: Functional Test: System Test (ST), System Integration Test (SIT), User Acceptance Test (UAT), infrastructure Test (IT) Non-Functional Test: Load Test (LT), Security/Pen Test (PT), Operational Acceptance Test (OAT).
8. Establish processes for defect tracking and management. Coordinate with development teams to prioritize and resolve defects in a timely manner
9. Ensure proper documentation and reporting of defects throughout the testing process.
10. Evaluate opportunities for test automation and implement appropriate automation frameworks and tools. Work closely with automation engineers to automate repetitive test cases and improve testing efficiency.
11. Monitor and analyse test results to identify areas for improvement and optimization. Implement measures to enhance the overall quality of the testing process and deliverables.
12. Identify and assess project risks related to testing activities. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address potential issues and ensure project success.

Skills / Experience
19. Proven experience as a Test Analyst or similar role, with a minimum of 7/12 years in software testing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
20. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
21. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
22. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
23. Peer Reviews on Test Artefacts/Deliverables – QA.
24. Mentoring Testers.
25. Thoroughness and attention to detail for identifying bugs and ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
26. Strong understanding of software testing methodologies like V Model methodology, Agile, Hybrid, including manual and automated testing techniques like SCRUM, Kanban, DevOps.
27. Hands-on and proficiency in manual and automated testing techniques, tools and frameworks (e.g. Azure DevOps, JIRA, HPALM, Selenium, Junit, Cucumber, CI/CD, SoapUI, POSTMAN).
28. Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python).
29. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
30. Support the engagement-with and contribute to the work of cross-functional teams to ensure that customer and user needs are being met throughout the deliverable/scope of work.
31. Understanding of relevant regulatory standards and compliance requirements e.g. GDPR for data privacy
32. Presentation of complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences when engaging with colleagues, users/customers, suppliers and partners.
33. Application of creative or innovative thinking and design practises in identifying solutions that will deliver value for the benefit of the customer/stakeholder.
34. Be able to work with minimal levels of supervision.
35. Sharing knowledge and experience in own specialism to help others.
36. Demonstrates good organisational skills giving the ability to deliver to timeframes and estimates.
Qualifications
37. Incorporated Engineer or equivalent
38. Certification in Testing Methodology e.g. ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) and/orSCRUM Practitioner Certification
39. CSTP (Certified Software Test Professional)
