We are seeking an outstanding Special School Nurse to join our well-established Special School Nursing Service. At Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we provide nursing support to six special schools within our trust's footprint, and we have a vacancy for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Special School Nurse. The vacancy will be based in one of our six special schools and will require some clinical support across any of the schools.
We are looking for an experienced nurse who has previously worked in a school environment or healthcare role with children and young people. We will offer you clinical supervision, regular appraisal, training, and support in achieving your personal development plan, as well as peer support from colleagues in similar roles. You will play an important role in the delivery of integrated children’s acute and community services. Child Health offers excellent development opportunities and a range of expertise for advice and support in your role.
You will have responsibility for ensuring plans of care are maintained and reviewed, supporting consultant-led clinics, working with children and families to help achieve maximum independence in health and wellbeing, and developing best practices in line with the Child Health Strategy and health promotion. You will work closely with teachers and classroom assistants in meeting care needs and in teaching health interventions and health promotion skills. This busy role requires you to be flexible in a constantly changing environment and to respond to emergency needs as they arise.
Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient. Patient care is at the heart of what we do at our three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, and Andover War Memorial Hospital. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.
