Job Description:
Purpose of Position
To provide commercial support to the IT department pertaining to IT capital and contract spend, performing all commercial aspects of capital and contract management.
To produce and manage the IT financial plan in relation to capital and contract spend, including internal recharging, financial asset management, and strategic financial planning.
To proactively identify opportunities for cost savings, working with relevant IT managers and supplier/product owners to deliver such savings. To be the conduit between IT and Finance for all matters commercial and contractual.
Key Tasks/Areas of Responsibility
1. To produce and manage the IT department financial plan, specifically in relation to capital, depreciation, and contracts, covering annual planning, year-end closure, and 5-year planning.
2. Provide assistance and support to IT Managers on financial matters relating to capital and contract spend ensuring the best commercial deal is achieved.
3. To proactively work with IT Managers and supplier owners in driving down cost.
4. To provide input to effective IT asset management specifically around the fixed asset register and including compliance with software licensing.
5. To perform commercial and financial Supplier management ensuring best value for money.
6. To ensure end-to-end management and administration of capital and contract spend, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, performing contract re-negotiation, and ensuring appropriate administration of contract orders and payments.
7. Involvement in, along with the Finance Dept, analysis, creation, and presentation of project scopes and financial/commercial justifications where capital and/or contract spend is required.
8. Supporting all purchasing requirements, particularly bulk purchasing and liaison with the company purchasing manager where relevant.
9. To take on responsibility for specific projects as directed by the Head of Service Delivery.
10. Involved with the Finance Dept in managing the internal recharge of IT services to business.
11. Involved in financial aspects of licence (software and usage/right to use) management.
Qualifications
Skills and Competencies
1. Experience: Significant experience in a senior/managerial procurement role, preferably within logistics or transportation.
2. Knowledge: Strong understanding of strategic sourcing and procurement processes.
3. Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and senior management.
4. Influencing and persuasion: Ability to influence key decision-makers and gain buy-in for procurement strategies and initiatives.
5. Problem solving and decision-making: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex challenges and make informed decisions.
