Job Description
To be based in Milton Keynes or Leighton Buzzard.
To manage and facilitate the effective delivery of a robust Enterprise-wide Risk Management (ERM) framework, and provide oversight and direction for the management of risks (within risk appetite as set out by the Connells Limited Board) across the Group.
Your responsibilities will include:
To embed and continually improve the ERM framework across the Group so that:
* Risks are identified, updated and managed within all Group entities
* Risk assessments are carried out across the Group and key risk indicators are used to support prioritisation and action planning for the management of risks
* Appropriate controls are put in place
* Appropriate risk reports and MI packs are submitted to relevant Group Boards/Committees and to the parent company (SBS).
* Ensure that management across the Group understand the ERM framework and their responsibilities within it.
* Ensure a comprehensive understanding and adherence to risk management standards, processes and procedures.
* Act as a source of technical expertise on risk matters for others across the Group.
* Ensure risks are robustly anticipated, mitigated and managed.
* Perform risk assessments and deep dive reviews of Group entities (and functions, where appropriate) and activities across the Group through facilitated workshops and analysis.
* Provision of training to aid the identification, assessment, management and recording of risks at all levels.
* Respond to and manage emerging issues through the mechanisms of the framework.
* Maintenance of the Board Control Manual.
* Manage [one] Risk Analyst and [three] Risk Managers and develop their skills and capabilities in order to deliver effectively.
* Develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure that a strong culture of risk management is embedded across the Group.
* Work closely with key stakeholders across the Group and with 2nd and 3rd line teams at SBS to ensure an agreed and co-ordinated approach to risk management.
* Keep abreast of best practice and external developments in the area of risk management and ensure that learning is applied.
* Identify and escalate at the earliest opportunity any significant risks and issues to the Group Risk & Compliance Director (and/or Senior Management, as appropriate) in a clear and accurate manner.
* Maintain the risk management record keeping system.
* Deliver action tracking of SBS Internal Audit and Compliance actions.
We are looking for someone who has:
* Experience of managing or implementing risk frameworks, ideally in a Financial Services environment.
* Ability to use a wide range of analytical tools and well as project planning techniques.
* Ability to understand the commercial and organisation impacts on the risk profile.
* Excellent knowledge of industry best practice in relation to risk management tools and techniques.
* Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and the credibility to work well with Directors/ Senior Management and to liaise with regulators/ authorities.
* Ability to build strong and effective working relationships with business areas.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver high quality written work and reporting.
* Ability to assess the impact and relevance of issues and articulate them in a clear and precise manner whilst ensuring a commercial approach is maintained.
* Articulate, confident communicator and presenter.
* Highly self motivated with ability to prioritise time and work and to react to urgent situations.
* Relevant professional qualification.
