BioSkryb Genomics is an early-stage Biotechnology company focused on bringing “A Revolution in Resolution” in single-cell genomics. BioSkryb’s core technology, ResolveDNA™ powered by primary template-directed amplification (PTA), enables even and unbiased whole genome amplification of single cells, allowing for unprecedented sensitivity and uniformity in identifying biomarkers influencing disease. Our ResolveOME™ multiomic product expands upon this by providing comprehensive transcriptomic data in addition to the foundational genomic data from the same individual cell—providing powerful unified biological insights not possible when performing uniomic analysis in isolation. We believe our technology will enable a new generation of single-cell and low-input DNA genomics applications in diverse markets like Cancer Genomics, Preimplantation Genetic Testing and Non-invasive Prenatal Testing (PGT/NIPT), Neurology, Microbiome Genomics, Minimal Residual Disease detection, and Cell and Gene Therapy (CAGT). We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join the R&D team to lead feasibility efforts with novel concepts and chemistries which will ultimately be transferred from R&D through the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to the Development and Production teams. The successful candidate will drive fundamental and early-stage wet-lab research projects as part of the development of new products, while also leading the necessary refinement and maintenance efforts for existing product lines. As a senior member among the bench scientists, this individual will be expected to create and manage aggressive timelines as well as mentor junior scientists and laboratory technologists contributing to the mission. The successful candidate will be part of a larger effort aimed at scaling our ResolveDNA™ and ResolveOME™ chemistries and implementing additional ‘omic tiers for comprehensive cellular analysis. Responsibilities Independently design and execute experiments after being tasked with the problem; taking ownership to “fail fast” in broader experiments and move toward feasible solutions Routinely and clearly present well-organized results to internal and external stakeholders in written and presentation format Innovate to generate novel chemistries, tools or approaches that result in patent applications, new products and/or product improvements Serve as a scientific mainstay and role model to junior staff in the laboratory for technical direction of product development as well as with collaborations for biological applications Assist in writing SBIR grants, when appropriate, publish novel technical and biological research findings in high-impact journals Be cognizant of and up to date on genomic/multi-omic literature in the arenas of cancer biology and CAGT to understand application space of the technology being developed Be relied on as a reliable point-person and mainstay for external engagement Assist the VP of R&D by being a point of contact for issues arising in the department Attend relevant core team meetings as a senior R&D representative and regular presentation at weekly R&D data presentation meetings As this Senior Scientist position entails project design, technical, and leadership responsibilities, we expect the successful candidate to committedly drive projects forward with obligations outside of normal business hours; consistently putting forth the extra effort required to push both innovation and projects to completion on time and on budget. Above all, the applicant must be intrinsically motivated, and possess a nagging scientific desire to “know the answer.” Requirements D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics or related field Masterful understanding of current ‘omic’ literature and concepts, including genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics and proteomics History of peer-reviewed publications or collateral authorship for scientific products or concepts (white papers, tech notes, brochures, etc.) Demonstrated experience in understanding the analysis of NGS data in addition to wet-lab execution: genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic, proteomic from multiple technology platforms Track record of research independence and development/execution of experimental design and scientific method Excellent oral and written communication skills to represent R&D and the organization externally on client and collaborator calls Preferred Experience Hands-on experience in single-cell and sequencing workflows and direct operational experience of associated hardware Hybrid capture for exome or small gene panel enrichment Microfluidic and microscopy fundamentals Experience with liquid handlers New Product Introduction experience with a grasp of the phase gating approach to product management Academic or industrial postdoctoral experience in the single-cell or ‘omic space, preferably in oncology, CAGT or neurology Cell culture experience with general cell biology prowess and understanding of the many subtleties and best practices that influence cell viability Execution of genomics projects with primary patient samples; including all stages of the process from sample acquisition through to results interpretation Familiarity with fluorescence activate cell sorting (FACS) and/or other cell enrichment techniques BioSkryb, Inc. is committed to equal employment opportunity and non-discrimination for all employees and qualified applicants without regard to a person's race, color, gender, age, religion, national origin, ancestry, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or any characteristic protected under applicable law.
