The King’s Estates & Facilities Engineering Team manages reactive, planned and statutory maintenance in order to ensure King’s remains one of the world’s top universities.
About The Role
The effective delivery of Hard Services and Fabric Maintenance across designated buildings located within the KCL Estate, to specifically include the following:
1. The provision of a customer orientated Hard FM service
2. Maintaining Risk Management systems
3. Development of service innovations across their Campus and the Estate
4. The responsibility for all Engineers and contractors involved in the delivery of the mechanical, electrical, BMS and building fabric services within the designated locations in terms of safety and quality
5. To ensure that the service delivery team is trained and competent for the roles for which they are responsible and to manage an upskilling programme for all staff
6. Management of compliance applicable to Hard Services maintenance in terms of both execution and record keeping
7. Delivery of a value-for-money service to the College
8. Leadership with regards to energy reduction. Strategic support to the Lead Engineer to deliver the College quality, innovation, energy/carbon and value for money agenda across the area of responsibility
9. Day to day management and accountability of the team’s budget including monthly accruals and where necessary attend budget meetings. Working with others to build the annual maintenance budget for the campus.
10. Ensure that all maintenance operations are undertaken in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
11. Improve performance and the reporting of engineering/maintenance activity to management and the team.
12. Ensure all members of the team are trained appropriately and competent to carry out their duties at all times and are fully instructed in the operation of new installations and systems.
13. Ensure value for money is obtained on all expenditure.
14. Promote sustainable management techniques through the development and implementation of campus wide environmental and sustainability policies and management systems.
15. Collaborate with the Asset Improvement team to deliver infrastructure projects and manage O&M information.
16. To develop and maintain a building by building Risk Register and include in routine reporting.
17. Support the Lead Engineer to develop and implement a Business Continuity and Risk Mitigation plan.
18. Collaborate with the Campus Operations Teams to ensure a one team approach and attain high standards of customer service.
19. Undertake periodic quality surveys.
20. Undertake financial duties.
21. Ensure 121s and PDRs are completed.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential Criteria
1. HND/HNC in Building Services
2. NEBOSH
3. English and Maths A-C GCSE or equivalent
4. Good verbal and written skills
5. Good level of computer literacy including Excel
6. Ability to prepare accurate reports and summaries
7. A thorough understanding of health and safety legislation
8. Extensive managerial experience
9. Budgetary management experience
10. Excellent leadership skills
Desirable Criteria
1. Degree Qualified in Engineering or Facilities Management
2. Experience of working in critical engineering environments

Grade and Salary: £53,149 - £62,422 per annum inclusive of London Weighting Allowance
