Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerk of Works to join the Capital Planning and Development Team. The role is ideally suited an existing Clerk of Works or someone wanting to move into a Clerk of Works role. This position would be ideal for someone with extensive on site practical experience, Construction Site Managers, Building Surveyors and Building Inspectors or those with equivalent experience in a similar role who could adapt their skills to this challenging new role. You will be an experienced and dedicated individual who has past experience of being involved with and on active construction sites, ideally in a healthcare environment. You will have experience of working as part of a team, ideally in the healthcare construction industry. You will have good communication skills and be ready for the challenge of delivering the Trust's ambitious capital improvement programme. Attention to detail and good communication is a key skill of a Clerk of Works. You will therefore need to have good level of written, computer and verbal skills, be comfortable attending meetings and be personable to both maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external. Main duties of the job Reporting to the Engineering Development Manager within the Capital Planning and Development Team, this is a fundamental role to deliver a quality control, quality checks and health and safety inspection service. Responsible for monitoring, examining and keeping accurate records of works carried out by contractors on both major and minor schemes in properties owned or controlled by Cambridge University Hospitals. Works predominantly limited to the CUH campus, but there may be a requirement to visit manufacturer's factories / yards. Responsible for completing or assisting in completing all relevant documents relating to the standards of work and the resources used by a contractor at all stages of a project and bringing to the attention of the appropriate Senior Managers, issues of importance or potential concern. Expected to take responsibility for all aspects of health and safety such as evaluation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), policies and procedures prior to the commencement and during the delivery of a project they have been assigned too. Monitor the quality of work undertaken in relation to the Quality Standards set for a project with an appropriate level of understanding of work procedures and practices underpinned with knowledge and understanding of the construction industry.
