Job Description
Role: Lead the implementation of a modern data science and ML Ops Cloud platform for the Corporate Bank. This role supports the growth strategy in Corporate banking.
Main Responsibilities:
* Functional leadership of a global team of approximately 100 data engineers, ML engineers, and data science colleagues.
* Overseeing a budget of approximately £10m annually for change initiatives.
* Interfacing with Accountable Executives (Business Product Owners) in the Corporate Banking Digital, Data & Analytics functions.
Qualifications:
* Thought leader in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and ML Ops.
* Certified in AWS Cloud and/or Databricks.
* Strong influencing and communication skills.
* A hands-on technical leader who can lead by example.
* Ability to attract diverse, high-performing talent at all levels.
* Experience working in Scaled Agile, LeSS, or similar enterprise frameworks.
Purpose of the Role
To build and maintain systems that collect, store, process, and analyze data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes, ensuring all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.
Accountabilities
* Building and maintaining data architecture pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete, and consistent data.
* Designing and implementing data warehouses and data lakes that manage appropriate data volumes and velocity while adhering to required security measures.
* Developing processing and analysis algorithms fit for intended data complexity and volumes.
* Collaborating with data scientists to build and deploy machine learning models.

* Providing expert advice to senior functional management and committees, influencing decisions outside of own function with significant input to function-wide strategic initiatives.
* Managing, coordinating, and enabling resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
* Escalating breaches of policies/procedures appropriately.
* Fostering and guiding compliance, ensuring relevant processes are in place to facilitate adherence.
* Focusing on the external environment, such as regulators or advocacy groups, to monitor and influence on behalf of the company, when appropriate.
* Demonstrating extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division/Group to achieve overall business objectives.
* Maintaining broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within one’s discipline, alongside up-to-date knowledge and insights into external market developments/initiatives.
* Using interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/sensitive situations.
* Exercising management authority to make significant, certain strategic decisions or recommendations within one's area.
* Negotiating with and influencing stakeholders at a senior level, both internally and externally.
* Acting as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/business divisions.
* Being mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
