Overview:The Instrument Engineer specializing in Optical Fiber Sensing Hardware Development is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining advanced fiber-optic sensing systems, like DTS, DAS, FP cavity Pressure\/Temp interrogator and etc These systems are used to measure and monitor various physical parameters such as temperature, pressure, strain, and vibration in industries like aerospace, oil and gas, infrastructure, and telecommunications.Key Responsibilities:Hardware Design and Development:Design and develop fiber optic-based sensing instrument, including instrument internal structure, optical and computing modules installation, wiring, enclosure assembly, and associated hardware, design for radiation, anti-vibration and dustproof of the instrument for the field working environment.Integrate opto-electronic components such as optical module, computing unit, power supply and couplers\/connection into sensing systems (fiber) and other host system.System Integration and Testing:Collaborate with other teams (module development, field engineering) to optimize the sensing function of the instrument with the whole system.Conduct laboratory and field testing to evaluate system performance and ensure accuracy, reliability, and robustness.Develop and execute calibration procedures for fiber optic sensing.Prototyping and Fabrication:Build prototypes and perform iterative testing to refine designs.Work with application teams (engineering team, related technical team) to ensure smooth transition from prototype to production.Select and qualify materials and components suitable for harsh environments.Troubleshooting and Maintenance:Diagnose and resolve issues related to optical sensing hardware and signal integrity.Maintain and upgrade existing fiber optic sensing systems to improve performance and extend operational life.Documentation and Compliance:Create detailed technical documentation, including schematics, assembly instructions, usermanual and test reports.Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to optical fiber systems.Innovation and Research:Stay current with advancements in fiber optic sensing technologies and optoelectronics.Search and innovate the structure and major components of the instrument for better performance and reliability in field.Collaborate with the development team of DTS, DAS, PT interrogator and etc. to enhance the applicability of the instrument for various industrial scenes.Required Skills and Qualifications:Education: BachelorMasterdegree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.Technical Expertise:Strong understanding of fiber optic sensing principles, including FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating), OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometry), and interferometry.Experience with optoelectronic components such as lasers, photodiodes, and amplifiers.Proficiency in signal processing and data acquisition systems.Software Proficiency: Familiarity with design and simulation tools such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, COMSOL, or Zemax.Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for optical and electronic systems.Communication: Ability to document technical findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
