Academics is recruiting for a general Cover Supervisor to supervise secondary classes in Newport, commencing on the 17th February 2025. Applicants will be expected to produce a safe learning environment where KS3, KS4, and KS5 pupils complete pre-set work produced by subject teachers.

Responsibilities for Cover Supervisor:
1. Create a supportive learning environment where pupils stay on task and complete set work
2. Collect completed work after the lesson and return it to the appropriate teacher
3. Provide feedback to the class teacher by outlining positive/negative behaviours, achievements, and any concerning issues
4. Uphold school policies and procedures related to child protection, health, and confidentiality
5. Establish trust with pupils through interaction and by tailoring to individual needs
Required Skills and Qualifications for Cover Supervisor:
1. Valid DBS (can be produced through us)
2. Registered with the Educational Workforce Council (EWC) (can be produced through us)
3. Currently undertaking a university degree
4. Previous experience working with young people (e.g., coaching, teaching assistant, youth work)
5. Confident
Desirable Skills for Cover Supervisor:
1. Full driving licence and access to a car
2. Living in or near Newport
3. Initiative
