Exclusive to Trial Balance Consulting
Finance Director - Yeovil / Hybrid - Circa: £85,000 + Car allowance + Company performance related bonus + Future share options
Not every Finance Director is cut from the same cloth. Technical skills, general management experience and future aspirations vary wildly with some maintaining an operational focus whilst others pursue a more strategic path. A career opportunity with longevity requires careful consideration and it can be difficult to achieve a complete ideal. We think our current project breaks that mould; read on and we’ll tell you why.
Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have formed an exclusive recruitment partnership with a highly successful services business that have tasked us with sourcing their next Finance Director, a position of pivotal prominence and one that carries a most unique and interesting remit. The post is offered as a full time, permanent contract to be principally based from the company’s headquarters close to Yeovil, but with scope for hybrid working and regular travel.
The recruiting company: A highly successful and rather unique b2b services business operating in a niche sector with commercial asset and property management with major clients based throughout the UK and Europe - unquestionably a leader in their field. Well established and employing in excess of 50 staff, the company’s balance sheet is in great shape and the trajectory for continued growth is strong.
The opportunity: This is an FD role with a difference. The successful candidate, working closely with the board of directors and SMT, will not only assume the lead on managing the company’s internal financial health and strategy, they will also play a key role in managing a major aspect the business’ service offering; regularly meeting with and presenting to prospective and longstanding clients (many of whom operate on a global scale), providing high quality commercial advice and financial performance commentary. This will be a broad and hands-on opportunity that features an interesting variety of scope; operational accounting, team management, analysis and strategic forecasting. The role is feature-packed and includes a range of responsibilities outside of financial management. It goes beyond the scope of an outline vacancy listing.
The successful candidate: Almost certainly a professionally qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), possessing no less than 5 years of commercial accounting experience and probably operating in a number-one or number-two capacity at present. The position calls for a candidate with a high level of commercial awareness and entrepreneurial flair, possessing the ability to work closely with major clients and decision makers (often outside of finance), as well as managing a team of colleagues. The company is technology focussed and the successful candidate will require sharp IT aptitude using both MS Excel and other digital accounting tools to produce detailed cashflow models for multi-let commercial properties to forecast income and capital expenditure, debt financing impact, rate-of-return, yields valuation and equity multiples. The incoming FD should possess a strong awareness of audit, compliance and internal controls. Applicants should have experience of or ambitions to operate as a key decision maker at board level.
The benefits: A generous base salary (negotiable DOE) and car allowance (£7.5K). A generous performance related bonus to be discussed with shortlisted candidates, competitive pension, private healthcare, life assurance and health insurance. Future share options are anticipated.
