As a Welding & Grinding Team Lead, you'll take on a leadership role in maintaining the rail network, specialising in welding and grinding to repair and join rails. You'll be responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient work delivery and overseeing the maintenance of the rail network in all conditions. This is an outdoor role, requiring work in varying weather, and a commitment to safety while working near fast-moving trains is essential.
Responsibilities:
* Specialise in welding and grinding to repair rails - you will be using Arc & Aluminothermic methods.
* Ensure the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance activities, overseeing work in all weather conditions.
* Provide clear communication and guidance to team members, ensuring high standards of safety and quality.
* Oversee the transport and handling of equipment across challenging terrain.
* Develop and implement safe working systems, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
* Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate, support, and direct a team.
* Extensive technical knowledge in rail maintenance, inspection, faulting, and welding techniques.
* A strong commitment to safety and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* NVQ Level 1 or 2 in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience), with a desire to continuously develop your expertise.
* Full UK driving licence (Category B).
* MMA Welding Qualification 1-4, HNC or equivalent.
Benefits:
* GBP £40000 to £42468 per annum | Permanent, 35-hour week (with paid overtime).
* 30 days' annual leave (excluding bank holidays).
* Shift premiums for nights & weekends.
