The Surgical Receiving Unit (SRU) is a new unit within Torbay Hospital that takes patients directly referred from GPs, patients from the Emergency Department, and patients from clinic.
We take a lot of specialties including Urology, Orthopaedics, and ENT. It is a fast-paced environment where every member of the MDT supports each other and is valued.
As a Sister/Charge Nurse, you will provide day-to-day leadership to the nursing team, facilitating the efficient working of the multidisciplinary team to assess care needs, develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care.
In this role, you will be coordinating the running of the Surgical Receiving Unit to ensure a good patient journey and support of staff on the shift.
Main Duties of the Job
* The main duties of the Sister/Charge Nurse are to coordinate the shift whilst maintaining a calm and professional attitude.
* You will help in the day-to-day running of the unit, whilst supporting the team around you to deliver a high standard of care.

Person Specification
* 2 years of experience in Emergency Department/Assessment Unit and/or surgical experience.
* Knowledge of clinical governance.
* Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
* Conflict management.
* Ability to prioritize care.
* Effective leader and role model.
* Ability to work under pressure and make safe clinical decisions.
* Leadership experience or training.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per annum pro rata.
