Why this role is important for CPI’s work CPI has an exciting opportunity for a placement student to join our established and growing Device Technology team on a fixed term basis for a period of 12 months. The placement student will focus on supporting the design, development, testing and manufacture of products, particularly in medical technologies, healthcare and life sciences.
Key tasks in the role will include (but are not limited to):
1. To maintain consistent and document compliance with all relevant Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Data Integrity (DI), quality and best practice requirements.
2. To help provide in-house mechanical design and development support of projects.
3. To learn how to gather and develop customer requirements.
4. To generate conceptual designs, layouts, and bill of materials.
5. To assemble and test prototypes.
6. To work as part of a multidisciplinary project team with both engineers and scientists and be responsible for the management of external suppliers.
7. To learn how to provide clearly documented records of technical data, decisions, methodologies, calculations, and software use in accordance with ISO/FDA quality standards.
8. To support the Procurement and Engineering teams for specification, tendering, factory, and site acceptance tests for new equipment.
The person we are seeking
Essential:
1. Educated to A-Level level (or equivalent) in Mathematics and Science (Chemistry, Biology or Physics) or related subject.
2. Currently studying for Degree level (or equivalent) in:
3. Mechanical Engineering (or related)
4. Manufacturing Engineering (or related)
5. Product or Industrial Design (or related)
6. Biomedical Engineering (or related)
7. Has an understanding of key mechanical engineering principles e.g., material selection, assembly techniques and manufacturing processes.
8. Knows techniques for design for manufacturing, assembly, test, and maintenance.
