The Labour Markets, HumanCapital, Supply and Regions (LHSR) team are friendly, inclusive andencouraging, at the centre of the HM Treasury’s function as aneconomics Ministry. We provide economic analysis, briefing andpolicy advice on key trends in the UK economy. We also leadanalysis of the latest developments in supply, labour markets,population, regions and human capital, and deliver high-qualityanalysis to inform policyadvice.
Aboutthe role
We are offering theopportunity to work independently on short-term demands includingbriefing and surveillance, alongside long-term strategic projects.You will deliver high quality analysis on a high-profile area,working closely with other analysts and policy colleagues across HMTreasury as well as externalcollaborators.
Keyaccountabilities
1. Deliveringimpactful and timely briefing and analytical products for ministersand senior officials on labour marketoutcomes.
2. Analysing the economic impacts oflabour market policies and communicating conclusions to the Officefor Budget Responsibility (OBR) as well as collaborators across HMTreasury in order to influence the policy-makingprocess.
3. Analysing new trends, risks anddeveloping assessments of their implications, summarising keymessages to contribute to the Department’s monitoring of the stateof the economy and the outlook.
4. Line managingjunior analysts in the team, including direct line management of astudent economist, supporting their development and role modellinganalytical standard practice.
5. You will also besupported to contribute to the corporate agenda in the EconomicsGroup and widerdepartment.
