We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance.
We are currently recruiting for a site based Health & Safety Coordinator to work in our busy food manufacturing company in Merthyr Tydfil.
This is a full time position working 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday with a competitive salary.
The Health & Safety Coordinator will be mainly responsible for coordination, administration and implementation of a variety of health and safety projects and system within the Site.
Requirements
Systems, Policies and Procedures:
* Contribute to the continuous enhancement and execution of our Health & Safety systems, policies, and procedures.
* Make sure that near misses and hazards are thoroughly investigated and monitored to resolution.
Safety Personnel:
* Actively engage with and provide support to the on-site Health & Safety risk management teams.
* Conduct training sessions for site personnel on essential departmental software applications, including risk management tools and spreadsheets, to empower them in performing their roles effectively.
Risk Assessments:
* Undertake and review relevant assessments for operations on site in conjunction with review and approval of H&S section of Standard Operating Procedures.
Internal Audits:
* Undertake internal audits, attend various Health & Safety meetings.
Accident Investigations:
* Collaborating with safety personnel to report and investigate site accidents, incidents, and near misses, while ensuring that effective corrective and preventative measures are developed and executed.
* Collecting essential evidence, including documentation and photographs.
* Contributing to the updates and uploads of accident investigation reports.
Training:
* Work with Training Department to coordinate the identification of Health & Safety training needs.
Review and Assist:
* Contribute to the analysis of site data to enhance benchmarking, support internal audits, and identify improvement opportunities for areas with potential increased risk.
* Craft engaging presentations and comprehensive reports for site meetings with safety teams, while also aiding in the development of Health & Safety strategic plans as needed for the site.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI's):
* Meeting Reporting Deadlines %.
* KPI's will be set out and reviewed by the Site H&S Manager for each period defined (month/quarter/year) reflecting achievement of agreed objectives and initiatives.
Key Competencies for Role:
* Ideally should hold a NEBOSH certificate or NVQ diploma in Safety and Health however this can also be facilitated by the business.
* Fire Safety Awareness Beneficial.
* Environmental Awareness Beneficial.
* H&S Professional membership advantageous.
* Background in safety and health ideally food and / or manufacturing environments.
* 1 year’s post qualification experience.
* Strong communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills.
* Organized, energetic and self-motivated.
* Demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative without immediate hands-on support.
* Ability to identify continuous improvement initiatives and ability to challenge status quo.
* Strong IT sills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point and other common software tools.
