Trainee Senior Staff Nurse - Children's Emergency Department
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a band 5 nurse who is a dynamic individual with excellent clinical skills and ED experience that would like to enhance their skills and progress to Band 6.
You will start on band 5 until your competencies have been completed where you will progress to band 6.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate would take charge in the busy ED on a shift by shift basis under direct supervision of a band 6 and 7 nurse. In addition, you will be provided with a trainee band 6 competency document that will need to be completed before officially being employed as a band 6 nurse.
As a Trainee Band 6 nurse under supervision, you will be responsible for the day to day flow of the department by ensuring the standards of care are met for children and their family/carers whilst in the emergency department, including delegation and deployment of the nursing team in the absence of a band 7.
Within this role, you will be employed as a band 5 nurse until you have completed all band 6 competencies.

Job responsibilities
* Provide leadership in care to children, young people and their families in the emergency department.
* Accountable and responsible for providing a high standard of child and family focused care.
* Carry out care without direct supervision as part of the Emergency Department team and supervise juniors delivering care.
* Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and contribute towards the effective running of the department including patient safe and timely care.
