An opportunity to play your part – As the successfully appointed Principal Design Systems Engineer at Centrica, you will spearhead the engineering initiatives within our diverse and multi-faceted Nucleus team. Your position is instrumental in ensuring the robustness and advancement of our Design System.
You will be tasked with creating innovative, user-focused UI solutions, cultivating a cooperative atmosphere, and broadening the reach of the design system’s methodologies throughout Centrica. Your proficiency in vanilla JavaScript, web components using Lit, and design systems, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary frameworks, semantic HTML, CSS, and accessibility, will be vital. Additionally, you will oversee and mentor the product engineers, promoting a community-centric approach that appreciates contribution and involvement.

The day to day –
1. Formulate innovative solutions to address customer UI issues.
2. Plan strategically to broaden the influence and application of the Nucleus Design System within Centrica. Foster a cooperative atmosphere across all fields.
3. Ensure the continuous growth and stability of the design system. Promote a community-oriented culture that is keen to participate and contribute.
4. Supervise and nurture the product engineers within the Nucleus team.
About you –
5. Specialises in Design Systems with an emphasis on long-term viability.
6. In-depth knowledge of vanilla JavaScript and web components using Lit.
7. Competence in creating and integrating with contemporary JavaScript frameworks.
8. Solid understanding of semantic HTML, accessibility, and modern CSS with PostCSS.
9. Acquaintance with Design Tokens and their usage.
10. Experience in crafting internal tools for prototyping and testing. Proficiency in Git, GitHub, and Kanban methodologies.
11. An effective leader capable of working across various disciplines.
12. A process architect who enhances team collaboration.
13. A forward-thinker who prioritizes customer-centric design decisions.
