Description Financial Assessment Assistants (£25,584 to £27,269 per annum – Scale E) / Financial Assessment Advisors (£27,711 to £30,060 per annum – Scale F) / Financial Assessment Officers (£30,559 to 32,654 per annum – Scale G) | 7844 | Permanent Contracts | 37 hours per week | County Hall, Norwich We’re looking for people with customer service backgrounds and great problem-solving skills to join the Financial Assessment Team here at Norfolk County Council and help to provide a first-class service to people across Norfolk receiving care and support. Our Financial Assessment Team is a key team within our Exchequer Services function, as it’s the first point of contact for people who need financial help with care and support services. Its core aim is to investigate, assess, and provide advice around care benefits, to ensure that people fully understand what they’re being charged, but also that they are receiving the level of financial support to which they are entitled. We have various roles in the team at the moment – Financial Assessment Assistants, Financial Assessment Advisors and Financial Assessment Officers. All three roles involve working as part of a busy team, dealing with people on the phone and via other means of communication. The Financial Assessment Assistant role will be ensuring appropriate research to guarantee correct invoices are raised as well as resolving customer queries and ensuring that the computerised financial systems are accurate and up to date. The Financial Assessment Advisor position will be responsible for investigating queries in more detail, providing appropriate advice and guidance, and coordinating with relevant parties to ensure the correct financial assessment contribution is in place. The role of Financial Assessment Officer is the first point of contact relevant to advice and gathering the financial information required to enable the completion of the financial assessment, ensuring that the service user is correctly assessed as well as being in receipt of their full benefit entitlement. All three roles are critical and have a big impact on people’s lives. To be considered for the roles, you will need some form of experience in a customer service role or similar and will be comfortable dealing with members of the public. If you’re interested in any of the three mentioned roles, you’ll need to have used common computer systems before, you’ll have solid numeracy and literacy skills, and you’ll be keen to learn – we’ll be able to provide all the specific training and support you need to get up to speed. Most importantly, you’ll need first class customer service skills, the ability to quickly establish rapport with people from different backgrounds, and a positive and proactive approach. We’re happy to consider applicants for all three roles simultaneously and can discuss as part of the recruitment process which position might be the best fit for you. If you are only interested in one of the positions, that’s fine too – if you could indicate in your application which role you are interested in, that would be helpful.
