Key Responsibilities of a Key Stage 2 Teacher : Teaching and Learning : Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons for students in Key Stage 2, covering core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, and Foundation subjects. Create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where all children feel supported and encouraged to achieve their best. Use a range of teaching methods, resources, and activities to engage students, promoting critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning. Cater to a wide range of abilities and learning styles, adapting lessons to ensure each child reaches their full potential. Assessment and Progress : Regularly assess student progress using a variety of tools and methods, including formal assessments, observations, and student feedback. Provide timely, constructive feedback to students, setting clear next steps for their development. Track and monitor individual and class-wide progress, using assessment data to inform planning and teaching strategies. Classroom Management : Establish clear expectations for behaviour, promoting a positive learning environment where all students can thrive. Implement effective behaviour management strategies to ensure students remain focused, respectful, and engaged. Foster a nurturing environment where students feel confident in expressing themselves and taking risks in their learning. Collaboration and Teamwork : Work closely with colleagues in the Key Stage 2 team to plan and share best practices for delivering high-quality education. Contribute to whole-school initiatives, attending team meetings, parent evenings, and professional development sessions. Build strong relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on student progress and well-being. Professional Development : Continue to develop as a professional by engaging in ongoing training and attending relevant courses to stay up to date with teaching strategies and curriculum changes. Seek out new ways to enhance your teaching practice, bringing innovative ideas into the classroom. Personal Specification : Qualifications : A recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent). A degree in Education or a related field. Experience : Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 2, with a strong understanding of the curriculum and the developmental needs of children in this age group. Experience in assessing and tracking student progress, using data to inform teaching. Experience working with students with a variety of learning needs, including SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), is desirable but not essential. Skills and Attributes : Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. A creative and adaptable approach to teaching, with the ability to plan and deliver lessons that cater to different learning styles and abilities. Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance teaching, assessment, and planning responsibilities effectively.
