Assistant Financial Accountant £35-40k plus bonus and corporate benefits including %% annual bonus, 25 days annual leave, private healthcare and dental care, generous pension scheme Hemel Hempstead with hybrid working Role purpose We are working with an international business, who are recruiting for an Assistant Financial Accountant. You will support the Financial Accountant in providing comprehensive support to the global financial function in order to help drive business decisions. You will assist in managing the month end financial close of business for Sales, Purchases and other OPEX and with the Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance of balance sheet and P&L for entity of responsibility. You will also provide support to the Finance Manager and Director as required, making this role an exciting opportunity for you to develop your skills and knowledge. Key responsibilities Month end processes and reporting Assist the Financial accountant in the close process for entities of responsibility. Responsible for all accounts receivable duties to include: Processing of customer payments and sending customer statements, Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for accurately. Calculating and posting AR bad debt provisions at month end and analysing aged customer balances. Assist in bank reconciliations ensuring they are kept up to date and reconciled monthly to meet month-end timelines. Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts including intercompany, fixed assets, prepayments, payroll, and accruals. Support monthly close process and ensure timely completion of assigned duties. Maintain Ledger Accounts analysing OPEX and recoding any misaligned costs. Ensure the completion of monthly and quarterly reporting requirements to group finance within the timelines. Assist in ad hoc reporting and working with region controllers to explain and understand variances. Financial Control Regular review of processes and controls to ensure a strong control environment. Ensure all core processes are documented and kept up to date, including clear identified risk and control points. Ensure the general journals log is kept up to date and signed off with back up available for all journals posted. Ensure period close deadlines for users in Navision is met. Ensure an efficient and effective system of internal controls to maintain compliance with anti-corruption / anti-bribery Proactively identify, report and where applicable initiate resolutions for any compliance issues or emerging risks. Required education Part Qualified Accountant Further Qualification or Degree in a related discipline would be preferred, but not essential.
