This position is a key role in within the JD Gyms Finance team. As the Management Accountant, you will be responsible for producing monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts for key operating expenses. You will build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and other departments to ensure you are up to date with the latest business developments and reporting requirements.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
* Responsible for reconciling sales to cash receipts for monthly membership fees.
* Preparation of several key cost lines within the monthly management accounts.
* Regular engagement with budget holders to complete detailed variance analysis, with supporting commentary and evidence for any adverse/favourable variances to budget, forecasts and last year.
* Responsible for analysing key cost areas and provide challenge to the appropriate stakeholders.
* Responsible for the preparation of monthly P&L reporting and variance analysis.
* Preparation and submission of the quarterly VAT return to the Group with supporting control account reconciliations.
* Responsible for submitting accurate and timely submissions to Group.
* Responsible for producing monthly, half-year and year-end Group reporting packs.
* Aid in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly re-forecasts for gym level operating costs.
* Ensure that all internal and external reporting deadlines are met.
* Continual review and improvement of all Finance related processes, including wider roll out of purchase order management with business stakeholders.
* Maintain controls in line with the Group’s Financial controls programme.
* Be the first line of support for the Assistant Accountant.
* Assist with audit queries.
* Ad hoc project work as required.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge needed:
* Qualified CIMA/ ACA/ ACCA accountant.
* Experience of management accounting essential.
* Experience working alongside and influencing internal stakeholders; both financial and non-financial.
* Strong analytical skills required to identify and remediate risks.
* Ability to investigate, understand and explain variances and overall business performance.
* Strong communication skills both written and verbal required.
* Ability to prioritise workloads to meet tight deadlines.
* Ability to work under your own initiative.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
* Attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
* Experience of Oracle Financials and TM1 preferred (however, training will be provided).
