Pharmacy Technician Ward and Dispensary Services - Eastbourne
We are offering you an exciting opportunity to join our Medicines Management team at East Sussex Healthcare Trust. We are actively seeking a reliable, conscientious, self-motivated individual who has a positive, forward thinking attitude to work as a part of the Pharmacy Clinical Team based at Eastbourne hospital. You will have to demonstrate self-confidence, have a reliable work history and possess mature interpersonal skills.
The Pharmacy Department provides a service to a wide range of patients with diverse needs across a range of specialities. We operate a comprehensive ward based, patient facing clinical service backed by innovative technology. You would become a valued member of the team providing this essential service and in return you will receive full training and support to facilitate your career development.
You must be registered with the GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council).
Ideally you should possess hospital pharmacy experience, hold a medicines management certificate and be a qualified accuracy checking technician, although not essential. Consideration and support will be given to enable development to meet the criteria requirements.
Newly registered (or soon to be qualified) Pharmacy Technicians will be considered but will initially be paid at the AFC Band 4 rate. Support with your career progression will be given in accordance with our Education and Training Strategy.
Main duties of the job
Working as member of the clinical pharmacy team providing a safe and effective service to a variety of patients.
The role is 80% ward based, patient facing. Taking an up to date accurate medication history for all patients, working with the multidisciplinary team to resolve queries.
Ordering patients own medication ensuring sufficient supplies are available.
You will be a Pharmacy representative delivering a core service, answering Pharmacy related questions or referring to the most appropriate colleague within the team.
Accuracy end checkers will support the dispensary work flow with a daily end checking slot.
Support the operational team as and when required with a variety tasks to ensure timely delivery of Pharmacy supplies.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good general education including Maths and English.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Counselling Accreditation.
* Checking Technicians Accreditation Practice Supervisor/Train the Trainer accreditation.
Experience
* 2 years as a qualified technician.
* Knowledge of legislation affecting pharmacy practice.
* Pharmaceutical knowledge on actions and uses of medicines.
* Experience of working in a busy efficient dispensary.
* Involvement in the management of Clinical Trials.
Skills
* Good written and oral skills for communication with pharmacy team members, public and other healthcare professions.
* Must be able to recognise and overcome barriers to understanding e.g. language, deaf, learning difficulties.
* Demonstrates the ability to work well as a team member.
* Good keyboard and IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Preparation of Blister Packs.

£29,970 to £36,483 a year, pro rata.
