We are looking for a tourism professional, with great project management skills, to join us as we lead on the South Yorkshire Local Visitor Economy Partnership (SYLVEP).
Sheffield City Council is recognised by Visit England, the national tourism agency, as the lead authority for South Yorkshire on this national project. We work with tourism leads across the four South Yorkshire local authorities, and with South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.
You’ll focus on managing the growth plan for the SYLVEP and contribute to the delivery of the South Yorkshire Destination Management Plan.
The work of the SYLVEP contributes to the development of national tourism strategy and your report writing, presentation and communication skills will be key to getting South Yorkshire’s messages in front of the right people across the region.
The SYLVEP isn’t about marketing (that will remain the responsibility of the individual partners), it is about supporting visitor economy businesses – tourism, culture, events, hospitality and many, many more - to grow; connecting them to national initiatives; finding the regional commonalities and turning them into opportunities to create a stronger visitor economy. In short, supporting the development of the visitor economy and helping to make it market ready.
If you can demonstrate a knowledge of the tourism industry, are great at multi-tasking and meeting deadlines, we want to hear from you.
We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.
