Your new company
You will be working for a public sector authority who are seeking to recruit a Head of Finance which includes section 151 responsibilities within the role on a 6-month fixed term basis.
Your new role
The Head of Finance is a part of the senior leadership team and takes on the S151 responsibilities for the authority. You will be responsible for both the technical accounting and year-end, as well as the annual budget setting and monitoring service for the authority.
You will be responsible for driving improvements in those areas and complying with the legal responsibilities of the position of effective financial leadership and governance of the authority with the emphasis on value for money for the public purse.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified accountant with experience in a senior leadership position, ideally within a local authority, emergency services, combined authority, or any other large complex public sector organisation.
You will need to wear a number of hats and will need the ability to interact with the leadership team and work across the organisation, as well as have the ability to work with non-financial colleagues and turn financial data into actionable intelligence.
Able to consider people who have operated at deputy section 151 level, or Section 151 level, or other leaders at Director of Finance or Assistant Director of Finance level.
