Wednesday pm: Thoracic Malignancies Medical Oncology Clinic Thursday: Academic research in LCINS and on site cover for clinical trials as required. Friday: Lung cancer MDM and Thoracic Malignancies Medical Oncology Clinic The academic work relating to lung cancer in never smoker research will involve working collaboratively with Dr Georgiou, Guys cancer charity who funds this project and other existing oncology and university collaborators, statistical analysis and data interpretation, writing of peer-reviewed journal articles, project reports and grant applications as well as presentation of findings. The clinical trial and medical oncology clinics will be outpatient-based to ensure safe administration of systemic anti-cancer therapy, with particular emphasis on the support of lung cancer trials. The Fellow will work closely with the lung clinical research team, supporting the enrolment of patients and the collection of quality trial data. In addition to supporting trial patients, there will be an expectation that the postholder will engage in outpatient activities relating to thoracic medical oncology clinics, including preparing clinic lists, arranging outpatient investigations and referrals, and supporting the Clinical Nurse Specialist team. Participation is expected in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care. While this post does not attract a training number it provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the outpatient care of cancer patients, and would be suitable for a candidate who has completed general medical training and considering specialist training in oncology. Some prior experience of both oncology and clinical drug development is essential. Clinical supervision will be provided by Dr Spyros Gennatas and academic supervision by Dr Alex Georgiou The post holder is required to follow Trust policies and procedures, which are regularly updated.
