The role –
Core purposes:
Working within the PE department to enable attendance at sporting events both before and after the school day, and on weekends. Assisting with, and enhancing, the PE offering through coaching, enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to excellence. Acting as a role model for the students to aspire to.
Key accountabilities:
· To work cooperatively with the Head of PE and the rest of the PE department in order to operate well-structured PE programmes
· To provide a high-quality coaching programme for all teams especially swimming
· To carry out specific duties designated by the Head of PE
· To maintain and recommend equipment and supplies needed for the implementation of the sports programmes
· To foster among the players a desire to win, an attitude of good sportsmanship, personal pride, and pride for their school and community
· To deliver curriculum lessons in swimming and assist with the delivery of other lessons within the curriculum
· To commit to all swimming fixtures and assist at other fixtures if needed
· To be responsible for the welfare, health and safety of all children in his/her care, reporting any concerns or breaches of guidelines or behaviour to the appropriate person
· Record keeping for maintenance and safety checks
· Work in other curriculum areas to support pupils’ learning
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Education : Relevant qualification: minimum of a Bed./ BA/ BSc with a school swimming coach qualification. First aid & lifeguard qualified
Experience: Min of 2 years of experience as a swimming coach in a British school either internationally or in the UK, or in a training institute teaching children of all ages
