Job Title: Construction Officer (Temporary)
Location: Gwent
Contract: Temporary (26 weeks)
Start Date: 1st April 2025
Hours: 37 hours per week

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Construction Officer - Compliance to join our client, a progressive and forward-thinking local authority, on a temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safety and well-being of the community by ensuring compliance with building regulations across a range of council properties.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and coordinate statutory testing and inspections for council buildings, including asbestos re-inspections, mansafe system testing, safety glazing surveys, and roller shutter door servicing.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
* Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors and building surveyors.
* Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inspection findings.
* Contribute to the development and improvement of compliance procedures.
* Provide support to the Building Surveying team as required.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in building services or a related field
* In-depth knowledge of asbestos compliance regulations
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* IT proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite)
Desirable Skills & Experience:
* Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH)
* Experience of working within a local authority environment
