Job Description To provide clinical nursing service and support to other professionals and to patients of the practice including treatment, screening, chronic disease management and advice within the professional competence of the post holder. Support and work effectively within the clinical team. Job Responsibilities The following are the core responsibilities of the Practice Nurse. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: obtaining blood samples Electrocardiograms (ECGs) minor and complex wound management including leg ulcers and Removal of Sutures travel health advice and vaccinations child immunisations and advice family planning & womens health including cervical smears screening and helping patients to manage long term conditions Complete Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry Previous Experience: Essential Proven experience in a primary care or community setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to undertake further training for the advancement of the service where required Desirable It would be desirable for a nurse who has experience in general practice with a special interest in Respiratory, however these conditions are not essential. Able to plan and organise, setting and maintaining goals and high standards for themselves and others Use EMIS or other clinical Systems
