Overview
The role covers all stages of a product’s life cycle from early engineering units through alpha, beta, pre-production, and production phases. The successful candidate will assemble the mechanical and electrical elements of Water’s Mass Spectrometry products in line with business requirements. Critique the design, raising the appropriate project fault/engineering change requests and implementing and recording related change notes and deviations. Process customer orders for dispatch in line with departmental processes.
Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (safety, employment, expenses, training, PPE, etc.).
* Project a flexible, proactive approach, coupled with a willingness to work overtime as required, to ensure the output objectives are achieved.
* Project a smart, professional, and well-groomed image at all times in line with the business dress policy.
* Ensure equipment/tools used are within calibration.
* Report non-conformance via MFR Database or appropriate mechanism.
* Ensure that the implementation and recording of engineering change is carried out effectively within the department.
* Configure and prepare instruments/upgrades to relevant procedures and build specifications in readiness for NPO Test.
* Advise of design improvements and cost reductions (where applicable), using the appropriate reporting mechanisms of Design For Manufacture (e.g., ECR and Project fault databases).
* Work alone or as part of a team on new project instrumentation, as directed, working with relevant departments with the ultimate goal of Design for Manufacture.
* Liaise and assist with the appropriate departments to ensure that products delivered from the supply chain conform to drawing and specification.
* Assist the relevant department in the creation of build instructions for new products.
* Engineer (as directed) new product into existing or new suppliers.
* Provide support to the chemical cleaning department (as directed) acquiring an ability to clean components in accordance with specification.
* Process customer orders as directed.
* Perform any other actions deemed appropriate and as directed by senior personnel within the department.
Qualifications
* Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship.
* ONC or equivalent in an engineering discipline or relevant experience in an engineering environment.
* Excellent fault diagnosis and decision-making skills.
