Staff Nurse - Day Surgery Unit/Ambulatory Care Unit (Ref: 189720) Substantive Full time 37 hours per week Band 5 Salary Range £30,229 - £37,664 per annum plus Distant Islands Allowance of £2,256 per annum Relocation Assistance of up to £8000 is available Our 12 bedded unit provides care to adult and paediatric patients from a wide range of specialities including ENT, ophthalmology, Max Fax, Dental, orthopaedic, as well as Endoscopy and general surgery. The Ambulatory Care Unit is for long term condition care, biologic infusions, pre subcutaneous biologic injection workup, undertaking bloods and information sharing to these patients, having an interest in Disease Activity Scoring (DAS) and Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ). Assisting clinicians when administering maintenance and termination of regional or local anaesthetics. Application of Qutensa patches to patients requiring this procedure. You will be responsible for all aspects of care for patients undergoing planned surgery, the day surgery unit is also utilised for admission of inpatient planned surgery - these patients are transferred to the surgical inpatient ward from recovery. Part of your responsibility will be to ensure the environment is safe and effective for delivery of care to adults and children. You will provide excellent care from admission to discharge and participate in ward audit, clinical quality indicators and patient opinion. You will be a Registered General Nurse keen to obtain surgical care knowledge and experience and long term condition care. Previous surgical experience would be an advantage, though not necessary. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are essential. You will have excellent communication skills and flexibility to work across other areas of the organisation, either hospital or community based, as required, is also essential.
