About the Job The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, support, audit and enhancement of all IT Infrastructure. This includes the ongoing management of IT operational services to provide the agreed levels of service, seeking continually and proactively to improve IT service delivery. Working as part of a global IT Operations team of eight Senior Systems Engineers; the function is committed to providing scalable and flexible IT services and support to meet the growing demand of the organisation and aims to deliver in an efficient and effective manner. The role is highly specialised and the post holder will be required to understand the global IT Infrastructure and the critical business processes which depend on it. The Senior Systems Engineer will need to handle innovation and change resulting from the implementation of new IT solutions and should have the ability to delegate effectively to meet and adhere to IT Service Level Agreements. The role ensures reliable operation of all the global IB Infrastructure estate, which core and critical IB business processes operate and rely on. The stability of the global infrastructure environment is essential for organisational success. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to develop their skills and gain experience working with Cloud technologies and DevOps tools. Key Responsibilities Maintain ongoing stability and performance of IT infrastructure and services, including the deployment of necessary security patches, whilst ensuring sufficient infrastructure capacity exists to meet organisational needs. Establish and maintain IT systems development standards, methods and procedures to ensure IT service excellence. Act as 3rd line support for infrastructure related incidents, proactively identifying, troubleshooting, documenting and implementing proposed fixes. Ensure all IT infrastructure and end user services are maintained according to accepted best practices. Assist in designing and documenting infrastructure processes, procedures and standards. Maintain or prepare system and software documentation. Work with IT architecture and product owners to support respective application roadmaps. Act as a subject matter expert on IT infrastructure requirements for all IB approved projects. About You Excellent knowledge of Linux, ideally RHEL or Ubuntu. Experience with Configuration Management tools such as Ansible. Automation scripting using Bash or equivalent. Experience working within a hybrid environment, preferably Azure. Experience with virtualisation technologies, preferably VMware. Solid understanding of ITIL processes and experience in applying Incident, Problem and Change Management to a technical support role. Knowledge of enterprise hardware and software processes, networking, and software technologies. Ability to build key working relationships, both within IT and across the organisation. Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills. Self-motivated, highly organised, and willing to learn.
